1st photoshoot

Here are images from the first photo shoot using the red and blue gels and professional lights which were provided by the school. Due to the fact that the pictures were not picture quality was dull and wasn't showing up very well when the gel was over the light, it was decided that the gels would be held over the camera lens whilst taking the photographs to create a brighter photograph.  As you can see by comparing the two photographs below, the one on the right with the gel over the light looks dull whilst in the one on the left with the red gel being held over the camera the colour is much more prominent

The photos on the right were taken without any gels in the case of a situation where we didn’t like the photos we took with the gels, we would have something there spare to edit and play about with to see what we liked and what we didn't like. We made our male model do a variety of different poses to ensure that there was a wide range of photos to pick from that portrayed images of depression and mystery (e.g. the pictures of him holding his head whilst looking at the floor, suggesting that something is on his mind and is bothering him, the mystery girl possibly?). When looking at the photos, we decided that the red gel over the camera works best as it helps to ensure the sinister, depressing tone which we are trying to achieve. We decided that the more prominent red colour would be a better fit for our ancillary task because we wanted the photos to stand out and attract the audience. Red signifies danger which links to our video which suggests that something dangerous happened to the mysterious girl. If we had decided to go for the dimmer red colour, the link would have been less noticeable to the audience.

We also for experimental reasons tired using blue gels but felt they didn't have the impact which we would have preferred.  Instead of giving off the dark, depressing message we were trying to portray, we felt that the blue just looked a little bit too bright and happy and therefore wouldn't suit our ancillary task.
